Use Your POWER to CHANGE Climate Change | Earth Hour 2015

"The wealth of the nation is its air, water, soil, forests, minerals, rivers, lakes, oceans, scenic beauty, wildlife habitats and biodiversity... that's all there is. That's the whole economy. That's where all the economic activity and jobs come from. These biological systems are the sustaining wealth of the world."

I attended Earth Hour event for the past four (4) years already and every year I'm on it, I always love checking out the activities. Now let me share some of the happenings in SM City Cebu last Saturday (March 28, 2015). This year's Earth Hour global theme was "Change Climate Change" and the Cebu City officials led the observance of Earth Hour with its partner establishment, SM City Cebu, turned off 50 percent of its electrical usage.

Use Your POWER to CHANGE Climate Change | Earth Hour 2015

Before the light was switched off, Mayor Michael Rama told the residents who attended the Earth Hour activity that extinction of mankind would be the consequence if people ignore the threat of global warming, climate change, and other environmental degradation. And he also added, "If we will not do it now, when? If not us, then who?". Councilor Ma. Nida Cabrera said that energy conservation can be backed by other initiatives like proper waste segregation and waste disposition. Miss Theresa Sederiosa said that information campaign was done and it was time to make it a habit and not just an hour to magnify the result of energy conservation.

Use Your POWER to CHANGE Climate Change | Earth Hour 2015

Earth Hour was recognized as the world's largest voluntary action for environment and has reached 154 countries as of 2013, involving more or less 7,000 towns and cities all over the world. I also learned Earth Hour was started in Australia last 2007 and became a worldwide movement which uses the very simple act, turning off lights for 60 minutes. Philippines has been an active participant of Earth Hour since last 2008 and earned the status of being "Earth Hero Country". And I also took note that Cebu first participated in celebrating Earth Hour last 2009 and saved more or less 8 megawatts over the years.

After counting, a mega outlet where the huge plug was mounted has been unplugged to signal that it was time to switch off the lights. Candles inside a paper cups formed "60+ Earth Hour SM Cebu" viewed the area. The festive tribal music started together with the fire dancers who played the fire amazingly and it did entertain the attendees for how many minutes. The Knapsack Dancer performed a shadow dance that story tell how important our environment was and how are we going to improve it so that our future generations can taste the sweetness of Mother Nature.

While on the other side of the City, almost 5,000 bicycle enthusiasts gathered for the Earth Hour Night Ride at the Cebu Business Park to promote transportation sans carbon under the very bright moonlit and stars up in the sky. And in connection with the bicycling, SM City Cebu unveiled the newly bike racks located in the parking lot of the mall.

'Til the next year's Earth Hour fellow citizen and may we all achieve the goal to make Earth Hour a habit and not just annually executed. ^_^

The finest Asian online gamers have converged in the Philippines specifically in Cebu for the First eSports Asian Championship Competition, the main highlight of the #SUN Cellular-GameX eSports. A multi-player online game, DOTA 2, was played between two five-player teams whose goal is to destroy the stronghold of the opposite team while defending their own. The game requires great strategy and coordination among teams, making it a popular game among millions of professional and casual players around the world.
“It is a huge honour for our country to be chosen as the host of the first ever #eSports Asian #Championship, which hopefully allows more Filipinos to notice and appreciate our growing #eSports industry and the goodness and excitement that come with it” --- Irymark ‘Tryke’ Gutierrez, the executive director of the Philippine eSports Organization(PeSO), the main organizer of the event.
A prize pool worth USD 10,000 is at stake for the top cyber athletes from Indonesia, Malaysia, Mongolia, South Korea, Thailand and Philippines, who will battle on the popular game Defense of the Ancients(DOTA) 2 and the teams are also competing for the privilege to represent the region at the International e-Sports Federation World Championship in Baku, Azerbaijan on November 12 to 17.

In hosting the eSports Festival, PeSO, SUN Cellular and GameX, an innovative online portal that allows gamers to purchase ePins conveniently through their SUN prepaid load and Postpaid bill, aim to further boost awareness and growth of eSports in the country, as well as supporting outstanding Filipino eSports players.
“Filipinos are among the most passionate players and fans of eSports, which fuses art and technology in promoting teamwork, cooperation and global interaction. We believe Filipinos have the potential to dominate this space, and it is in supporting leagues and tournaments that we are able to bring out the best in them and lead them to the global arena,” said Mellissa Limcaoco, head of Smart’s Innovation and Product Development Group, which developed GameX.
Apart from DOTA 2, other exciting games are also featured in the event including Ultra Street Fighter 4, Tekken Tag Tournament 2 and Heart Stone, as well as other exciting activities like Philippines’ Best Costume Players(Cosplay), RIG Competition made by the computer hardware enthusiasts, Strife Free Play, Clash of Clan Fan Meet-Up, Sponsors Exhibit, Photography Competition and Raffle of Gaming Gears.

Technology did a great part on my life || #EverythingForTheTechieInYou

Now a days we normally think and ask ourselves "How are we going to live without technology?" Yes, we were born and first see the world without knowing and having no knowledge on anything that connects with technology. We surely don't know what's with technology. On our younger days, we just see things simple and very well perfect. But we will not stay young and innocent forever so we decided to step out on our comfort zone and try something new that leads us to use and build new technologies that can help us on living and will make our activities easier. I’ll share some personal experiences that I have happened to realize when I just checked at Cyberzone in SM City Cebu yesterday night.

How technology has changed my way of living…!!!

On my first grade, I happen to play simple games and using only resources I see around like sticks and rubbers, play hide and seek. And then goes second grade that taught me about technologies and how it helps and lessen the difficulties that comes when it was not around. And finally third grade comes and allows me to use the technologies that this world offers. Technology did my works easier and more fruitful. Before technology occurs in my life, I did things the very simple and longer ways that sometimes I can’t achieved the scheduled submission but when I started using some technology I happen to finished earlier than expected, maybe I’m not doing the older ways that will only achieved what was asked on me. But I’m doing the techy ways that will surely made me finished earlier on scheduled and will allow me to make some modification on my work and making it way more greater than expected. And for those happenings above let me share some review about LG G3 that I just checked when I rushed to the nearest Cyberzone in town at SM City Cebu.
