Here are some snapshots I took that might give you an interest to dine at H Café...

Crispy Pata
- Super crispy skin that sounds crunchy when you take a bite.
- The meat was so juicy that makes it easy  to chew.

 Cebu Beefsteak
- It was surrounded by a bagoong paste that makes it Cebuano.
- So soft and easy to eat.

Chocolate Cake
-It was purely made of a regular round tablea.
- Its sweet and a little bit bitter because of the tablea ingredient but it surely makes you crave for more.
I was really planning to ask some details on the Chef about the foods for it looks very much yummy and taste great but I never had a chance to do it, though the Harolds Hotel General Manager Mr Gembler answers some of our questions. Mr Gembler was very much accommodating and been great to all of us.

Heavy Noshes for your Teeny Twenty

Got a problem with your allowance? Are you left with only twenty pesos in your pocket, like me, for lunch or snacks perhaps? Then here's a solution for you snags. Discover some of these snacks which might help you out with your tight budget.

1. Kwek Kwek
       - Do you know that the quail egg inside the coated "kwek kwek" can be a remedy against digestive tract disorders such as gastritis and stomach ulcer? Aside from its affordable price "kwek kwek" is a good source of Vitamin A. See? It's not just a batter-coated ball after all...

2. Caramel Coated Banana Cues and Stripped Sweet Potatoes
       - Can't decide which to eat between these two snacks? Well, here's a fact to help you out. To those who have high blood pressures, bananas are good treats for you. If you go for sweet potatoes, you can gain almost twice the recommended daily allowance of Vitamin A, 42 percent of the recommendation of Vitamin C, and four times the recommended daily allowance for beta carotene. Now, have you made up your mind on which to eat this day? Whether you eat one of them or both, these snacks will surely bring back your childhood memories.

3. Siomai and Pusu
       - With your hand in a cellophane, you are now ready for a siomai-eating battle. You don't need to spend more than 50 pesos for this, all you need is less than 30 pesos of Siomai  and Pusu and your lovely tummy pets will all be fed. Besides, Siomai can provide 74 calories, 17 percent of which are proteins that are essential to the structure and function of all living cells. Now, isn't it wise to go for Siomai and Pusu rather than gain more fats with those fast foods?

4. Sliced Chilled Watermelon
       - Watermelon or commonly referred to as "Pakwan" is the most popular fruit during summer. It has really juicy and refreshing interior flesh. Aside from the fact that it practically contains 98 percent of water, it also contains a considerable amount of Potassium, Vitamin C, A and B6. It is that quite healthy despite its sweetness; it contains almost zero fat. One really big slice of a watermelon only costs just around ten pesos. Plus, they can be bought everywhere in the city every summer. It is a very good snack for both kids and adults. So, if you crave for sweet refreshment-slash-nosh minus the guilt, watermelon is best for you.

5. Sweet Corn
        - Do you know that those steamed yellow corn sold along the streets are very good source of Lutein? Lutein is physically present in our eyes and it helps protect them from strong light. It is located at the point in our eyes where maximum vision occurs; therefore, deficiency in Lutein will definitely cause eyesight problems. Various research studies have shown that adirect relationship exists between Lutein intake and pigmentation will help decrease the risk for eye diseases. So, if you want to keep that sharp eyesight, you better take as much Lutein as you can. Or better yet, buy some of those Lutein-rich steamed yellow corn which will definitely plump your bellies as well.

6. Peanuts

        - Either purely baked, sugar-coated, soaked with salts, or laced with hot spices, these legumes are good sources of fiber and Vitamin E. An ounce(or one small handful of peanuts) of it contains two grams of fiber which is equivalent to nine percent of your daily fiber needs. Studies show that an ounce of peanuts provided sixteen percent of your daily need of Vitamin E which has been proven to act as antioxidant reducing the risk of coronary heart disease. Isn't that fantastic? So if you want to escape from this disease, take a handful of peanuts in your pocket.

Isn't it delightful to spend little for delightful refreshments? ^_^

Snowballs - Cold or Hot?

No, they aren’t made of snow. It’s not even related to the snow cone.

This creamy treat is just like ice cream coated with coconut shavings and bread crumbs. The treat is round and fits your hand perfectly when you cup it. Although this snack is frozen cold at first, it is served hot. Am I confusing you?

Before serving, the Snowball is heated in the oven for a couple of minutes. Mind you, the ice cream doesn’t melt! When you start to take a morsel of it, the creamy and luscious texture on the inside will startle you for sure (especially if you are a first timer like me). You wouldn’t expect it even if you’ve already known about it. Just be careful not to stain your shirt though. The Snowball can get out of shape the moment you take a bit. This treat also comes in mango, chocolate, pandan, vanilla, strawberry and ube.

So go out and try this treat... ^_^

Waffle Foldover | Pancake House

This is certainly the food for the Gods!

This Pancake House specialty is huge, delicious and certainly mouth-watering just by the look of it. It is made of two scoops of vanilla ice cream, peanut butter, choco bites and nuts, enclosed in a golden brown waffle.

The peanut butter on the inside, blended with the vanilla ice cream made the dessert more flavourful and appetizing. The ice cream added softness to the tongue but it also made the sweet course heavy to the stomach. The choco bites added sweetness to the treat while the nuts gave a crunchier texture. The whole thing may be a pain in my pocket, so I don’t ask how much it costs…hehehe…

I recommend this for those people who didn’t get enough of their main course. In all honesty, the Waffle Foldover is enough to satiate you to satisfaction.

Banana-Q Ice Cream | Pinoy Sorbetes

I’m pretty sure the typical Pinoy sorbetes hasn’t got the whiff of this yet.

My friend treats me a cone of Banana-Q Ice Cream and was totally amazed. It really tasted like banana-Q. The aftertaste of fried banana covered in melted brown sugar dominated the whole ice cream. The bits of banana-Q on the ice cream were a big plus, too. Although the frozen delight lacked the creaminess, I still complimented on how they have combined unusual but familiar flavors into the cold treat we all love. To say that it only looks like your typical ice cream is an understatement. In fact, they also serve Halo-halo, Tsoko Pinipig, Manga’t Suman, Kape’t Gatas and Calamansi flavors!.

Now, let’s see who wouldn’t get tingly with curiosity.

Cappuccino Crepe | Crazy Crepes

Who says you can’t take coffee as a dessert? Crepes will prove you wrong! Crazy Crepes gives you a variety of crepe flavours – mostly fruity. So for a change, I tried the most unusual crepe flavor there was – the Cappuccino Crepe. A crepe with hefty amount of whipped cream, cappuccino mix, cookie bits and chocolate syrup. All those whipped cream really got me insane. It got more and more revolting as I tried to consume the whole of it.

The good thing was, you can add a scoop of ice cream flavour of your choice. The ice cream pulled the whole thing out. It gave the crepe the sweet aftertaste. Based on experience, I suggest that you buy a crepe that is already served with ice cream so you wouldn’t have to order for a scoop.

I really don’t know where my friend buy it but believe me it’s great.

Ice Cream On Pie | Unique Dessert

Ice cream is just ordinary but ice cream on pie is totally interesting! As you take a chunk, the first thing you notice is the pie’s solid texture as it blends with the ice cream. The ice cream had a flaky texture since it was frozen solid when it was put out of the cooler. Eating this dessert might be discouraging to those with sensitive teeth. You cannot bite into the pie unless you bite the cold ice cream, you know.

Anyway, the ice cream pie comes in three flavors: double dutch, chocolate and butterscotch caramel. I ordered double dutch and could not really distinguish the flavour of the ice cream from that of the pie. Well, I still gave thumbs up for the idea and the rice crispies (which served as the pie), although they weren’t crispy at all.

You can try this with me, if you want. ^_^

Creamy Delights to Tickle Your Senses | Gelatissimo

Enough for you to crave for something cold, sweet and satisfying.

Then again, wouldn’t we want another treat aside from the same old halo-halo? Are we not tired of sago’t gulaman yet? If you had the usual food trips for quite a while now, you would definitely drool over these must-tries.

Gelato

Get a break from the traditional ice cream. Gelato is now the in thing! It may sound like something jelly, but you’re wrong. It is an Italian variant of ice cream made guilt-free. Compared to the 18% fat content of traditional ice cream, gelato has only 10% of it so a sweet tooth like you may have as much as you want without worrying too much about getting yourself plump. Indeed, it is creamier and melts slower than the traditional ice cream. The flavours are so rich in a way that the moment its zest melts on your tongue, it stays there.

Speaking of flavours, Gelatissimo offers a variety of them. The safest flavour that I could recommend is the Choco Hazelnut. Who would go wrong with chocolate, right? The Biscotti is also good if you like Cookies n’ Cream. It is, in fact, a much mother version of it. For the adventurous, Chili Chocolate is for you. Trying this flavour was really astonishing. At first, you could taste the bittersweet flavour of the chocolate. After a while, the spicy aftertaste burns your throat. It may be uncomfortable, but it sure is something to try. Aside from the scrumptious flavours, believe me, the store is generous.

If you want to try this, I’m willing to join you. ^_^

The time to chill and relax does not mean we’ve got to spend much just to please our cravings. If you believe in “saving for the rainy days”, then now is the best time to start it.
